Some partnerships are negotiated. Others reveal themselves over time.
Lumière and R+Co share an anniversary. While that's simply a coincidence on paper, it has come to feel symbolic. Both were built on the belief that the beauty industry should be driven by artistry, education, and curiosity... not by trends alone.
I've followed Howard McLaren and the evolution of R+Co since my Bumble and bumble days, long before the brand became the industry staple it is today. What drew me in wasn't the packaging or the marketing. It was the philosophy. The products were created by working hairdressers who understood that performance comes first. Beautiful branding is a bonus. Great hair is the expectation.
There is a quiet revolution happening in professional haircare, and it rarely announces itself with neon packaging or viral hashtags. It announces itself in formulation... in what is left out as much as what is put in. R+Co is free of sulfates, parabens, mineral oil, petrolatum, and gluten. It is vegan and cruelty-free. Those qualities matter, but they are not why we use it.
We use it because it works.
The difference between good hair and extraordinary hair is rarely one product. It's the relationship between the right product, the right technique, and the right person. Hair is architecture. Every strand supports the whole, and every decision influences the final shape.
At Lumière, we don't sell bottles. We build systems.
That means understanding your texture, density, lifestyle, maintenance routine, environment, and long-term goals before recommending a single product. Babassu oil isn't a marketing term. Saw palmetto isn't a trend. They're simply materials; tools that allow us to create healthier hair over time.
Our philosophy has always been that education isn't an add-on; it's part of the service. We believe informed clients make better decisions, and better decisions create beautiful, lasting results. The products matter, but only because the understanding behind them matters more.
The bottle goes home with you.
The education stays with you.
Yours in style, MJ
